We Will Roll the Dice and Decide, There’s No Point in Talking About It Now: Ter-Petrosyan on Choosing Between Kocharian or Pashinyan

During a press conference today, Armenia's first president Levon Ter-Petrosyan addressed a question from a journalist regarding the possible cooperation of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) in the event that it gains representation in parliament, along with Nikol Pashinyan and Robert Kocharian. The question posed was whether he would choose Kocharian or Pashinyan as prime minister if the issue arose. Ter-Petrosyan replied, 'We will roll the dice and decide, there’s no point in talking about it now. A new situation will be created, and I believe we will address that situation seriously and try not to make a mistake.'

He continued, 'If a situation arises in parliament such that neither we, nor Nikol, nor Robert, nor anyone else holds a majority, they will be forced to form coalitions.' During the press conference, Ter-Petrosyan addressed the question of potential collaboration, stating, 'I have always supported coalition agreements for consensus, even though they pose new problems for Armenia, which can change every six months and put us on the list of countries that change governments once or twice a year. It’s a poor option, but if there are no alternatives, we must try.'
