Criminal Case Initiated for Bribery in Elections; Several Detained
The Prosecutor's Office has reported that today, information was received at the Tavush Police Department regarding representatives of one of the political parties participating in the extraordinary parliamentary elections offering bribes in the form of foodstuffs to voters in the Tavush region to vote in favor of the said party.
According to the materials prepared, factual data has been obtained that on June 8, 2021, around 21:20, the head of the party's Tavush regional office, A.A., brought approximately 80 packages of food to the apartment of the office's secretary, S.Z., located in the city of Gavar, instructing him to distribute them to voters according to a list.
The structure continued to mention that since this morning, S.Z. had handed out one package of food, valued at around 7,000 drams each, to 8 voters as a bribe to vote for the party.
Considering that the materials prepared indicate the characteristics of a crime related to bribery of two or more voters by a group of individuals acting by prior agreement, a criminal case has been initiated at the police department, and A.A. and S.Z. have been detained.
