Trial of Armenian Prisoners of War Underway in Azerbaijan
Today, the Yasamal District Military Court has commenced proceedings against Armenian prisoners of war Ludvig Mkrtichyan and Alyosha Khosrovyan. Azerbaijan accuses them of allegedly torturing Azerbaijani POWs during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War.
Ludvig Mkrtichyan was captured on October 20, 2020, in Fuzuli, while Alyosha Khosrovyan was taken prisoner on October 3, 2020. According to Azerbaijani media, trials are being prepared for 14 other prisoners of war facing similar charges. Twelve Azerbaijanis are recognized as victims in this fabricated case.
Thus, Azerbaijan is clearly ignoring all calls from the international community and organizations for the immediate release of the prisoners of war.
