If They Don’t Listen to Us, We Will Block the City with 500 Buses: Protest on Saryan Street
“We are not lambs for sacrifice. These vehicles you see are only part of it; we have more than 500 cars and buses, and we surely won’t wait to be slaughtered like lambs.” A representative from one of the transport tourism organizations said this during an interview with journalists at the protest which began earlier on Saryan Street.
It is noteworthy that the protest of the transport tourism organizations is related to the banks. Participants insist that banks are ignoring the situation caused by the coronavirus and are starting to impose penalties, even though there were assurances from the government that the situation in the sector would be rectified.
“We will fight until the end and defend our rights. We are not irresponsible borrowers who cannot pay off their loans; the issue has reached a point where the situation is like this worldwide, and many developed countries face this issue, while Armenia is still in a better position compared to those countries. We urge all banks not to act this way. Just 1.5 years ago, everyone was calling, asking to become their customer, and now they are acting like this. This situation is temporary; tourism will develop again, and this sector will become the most desirable for you through which you can attract many customers,” said a participant of the protest.
