Nikol Pashinyan has found a way to get rid of Hayk Marutyan. It is known whom he wants to replace him with.
The newspaper "Hraparak" writes: "Nikol Pashinyan has found a way to get rid of Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan; he is waiting for the elections to be conducted fully—he will invest all his strength into that task. The relationship between Pashinyan and Marutyan began to strain a year ago, and after the war, there is generally no communication; it turned out that ‘Kargin Hayko’ is among the few in the team who does not want to share the responsibility for Pashinyan's mistakes.
Pashinyan has wanted to part ways with him for a long time but did not find the way to do so. It was possible to replace him with someone from the current council by expressing a lack of confidence, but there is hardly anyone capable among them; they did not think two steps ahead while compiling the list. Now, they have decided to remove the mayor through legislative changes.
They are so confident about victory that they plan to alter the administrative division of Yerevan, and after the amalgamation of the community, local elections are expected to take place. According to their calculations, elections will be held in the autumn, and in that position, Pashinyan sees Tigran Avinyan, while Suren Papikyan is expected to be appointed as Deputy Prime Minister, though Arsen Torosyan is also vying for that position. With the new administrative division, Parakar or Argavand can be merged with Yerevan."
