Aram Sargsyan Detained in Facebook Fake Case, Lawyer Says
The Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, presided over by Judge Vahagn Melikyan, has made a decision to detain citizen Aram Sargsyan in relation to a criminal case concerning a Facebook fake. This was announced by his lawyer Benik Galstyan on his Facebook page.
“Last night, at 02:50, Judge Vahagn Melikyan decided to detain my client Aram Sargsyan. This decision was unexpected for me, as all of the NSS’s assumptions were completely disproved during the trial, and our claims were confirmed that our client has no connection to the acts attributed to him, nor does he have any ties to other so-called accomplices. With full responsibility, I can say that the judge went to consultation firmly convinced at least regarding these circumstances. However, now my client, who has three minor children (ages 4, 13, and 15), is in a detention facility. We will find out why this happened. We will also clarify the involvement of Court Chairman Arthur Mkrtchyan in this case. One more thing: my client has never engaged in public or political activities, and many others could be in his position,” he wrote.
