VIDEO: Fraudsters Embezzle Money from Displaced Persons from Artsakh
In the Police Department for the Fight Against Corruption and Economic Crimes, information has been obtained that on September 27, two men, with the preliminary intent to commit large-scale theft, posed as employees of the police's '6th Department' and assistants to the Deputy Prime Minister. They exploited the situation of displaced individuals from Artsakh now in Armenia.
The men presented themselves under the pretext of organizing housing allocation for refugees as part of a relevant program. They provided false payment documents and fake ownership certificates, taking advantage of the victims' trust.
They demanded 6 million drams from one citizen of Artsakh, receiving 3 million 800 thousand drams; from another, they demanded and received 3 million drams; and from a third individual, they requested 4 million 475 thousand drams and 1000 dollars. However, the crime was not completed, as the Artsakh citizen did not trust them.
A criminal case has been initiated within the Police Department for the Fight Against Corruption and Economic Crimes, and one of the men has been arrested. The initiated criminal case has been sent to the Investigative Committee.
We urge our compatriots displaced from Artsakh to trust only the relevant authorities. If approached with similar offers by other individuals, please report immediately to law enforcement agencies.
