National Assembly May Gain the Opportunity for Self-Disbandment
According to HJ's information, a draft amendment to the Constitution is circulating within the National Assembly's "My Step" faction, which, if adopted, would allow the National Assembly to self-disband.
The nature of the change involves adding a provision to Article 92 of the Constitution, which states that early parliamentary elections can also be held in the event of the National Assembly being disbanded by a decision adopted by at least three-fifths of its members.
Additionally, it is proposed to stipulate that early parliamentary elections will be conducted no earlier than forty days and no later than fifty-five days after the disbandment of the National Assembly (the current regulation mandates elections no sooner than thirty days and no later than forty-five days).
According to the existing Constitution, parliamentary early elections are only appointed if the National Assembly fails to elect a new Prime Minister with a majority of votes from the total number of deputies in two attempts within seven days after the resignation of the Prime Minister.
Opposition factions do not agree to propose a new candidate in the event of Prime Minister Pashinyan's resignation, which theoretically means that after Pashinyan's resignation, the National Assembly could elect another Prime Minister.
