Son Strangles 84-Year-Old Mother in Karin Village
On December 12, an emergency medical team from the "Ashtarak" Medical Center was dispatched to the village of Karin in the Aragatsotn Province. The medical team recorded that an 84-year-old woman was deceased and conveyed this information to the Ashtarak division of the police.
Operational investigative teams, forensic experts, and forensic doctors arrived at the scene. According to the reports from the Armenian police, law enforcement officials discovered traces of blood in the home. There were also blood-like marks on the body. It soon became clear that the elderly woman had been murdered.
A criminal case was initiated, within the framework of which criminal investigators from Ashtarak carried out operational measures in cooperation with staff from other law enforcement agencies. As a result of their joint efforts, factual evidence was obtained indicating that the woman's son had beaten her and then strangled her.
The 50-year-old man was located and taken into custody by the Ashtarak police, and subsequently presented to the territorial preliminary investigation body for questioning. He has confessed and has been arrested.
Operational investigative measures and investigative actions continue in order to clarify all circumstances of the case as well as the motive.
