Things Change Every Second at the Border: Conducting a Security Council Meeting with the Opposition is Imperative
On October 27, the Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia factions appealed to the Prime Minister, suggesting the urgent convening of a Security Council meeting. "Unfortunately, our proposal went unanswered; representatives of the government limited themselves to the Prime Minister's press secretary's statement that a meeting in that format had already taken place days ago. This formulation is more than strange to me because, under martial law, when the situation at the border changes every second, I believe that if parliamentary opposition forces find it necessary, there should be a certain reaction to this," said Iveta Tonayan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia faction, during a conversation with reporters in the National Assembly today.
She noted that it has been two weeks since their letter, and they have not received any responses to those questions, to which many others have been added. "Today, we consider it more than necessary to hold such a meeting," she stated.
At this point, according to Tonayan, there has still been no response from the Prime Minister. "Once we receive it, we will present it to the public." She emphasized that only the authorities have comprehensive information regarding the situation in Artsakh. "In this case, opposition political forces represented in the parliament are more than entitled to have the desire to access information regarding the security of Artsakh and the borders of the Republic of Armenia. Our proposal-demand was based on this," Tonayan noted.
It should be recalled that today the Prosperous Armenia and Bright Armenia factions have appealed to the Prime Minister, demanding an immediate meeting with parliamentary opposition factions.
