Erdogan Visits Armenian Patriarchate, Attends Memorial for Armenian MP
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attended a memorial service today for Margub Yesayan, an Armenian MP from the ruling Justice and Development Party who recently passed away. This was reported by Radio Liberty.
In the afternoon, Erdogan arrived at the Istanbul Armenian Patriarchate with his wife and participated in the memorial service held at the Mother Church of the Holy Virgin Mary. Besides the president, other representatives of the political elite were also present at the service.
The 51-year-old former journalist and MP Margub Yesayan had been serving since 2018 and died last week after a lengthy battle with cancer. The news of his passing was announced on Twitter by the presidential spokesperson Ibrahim Kalin.
