Homes Set on Fire After Ceasefire; 5 Civilians Killed, Criminal Case Initiated
On October 10, 2020, during the first half of the day, armed units of the Republic of Azerbaijan violated the conditions of the humanitarian ceasefire reached on September 10, 2020, in Moscow, starting from 12:00, as well as the requirements of the Geneva Convention of August 12, 1949, concerning the protection of civilians in wartime and other norms of international humanitarian law. They invaded the city of Hadrut in the Republic of Artsakh and, motivated by national hatred, unlawfully and deliberately killed 5 civilians who were not directly participating in military operations, while also setting fire to the homes and other property of civilians, thus unlawfully and arbitrarily destroying property on a large scale.
In connection with this incident, the Investigative Committee of Artsakh has initiated a criminal case under Article 416, Part 1, Item 1, and Article 416, Part 2, Item 6 of the Criminal Code of Artsakh. The investigation is ongoing.
