Don’t Say ‘There’s No Money’ Because There Is: Daniel Ioannisian on Arayik Harutyunyan
Daniel Ioannisian, the program coordinator of the "Informed Citizens" initiative, addressed the statement made by Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan on his Facebook page, claiming to be one of the leaders of the revolution.
"The leader of the revolution was not Arayik Harutyunyan, but, for example, Davit Sanasaryan, who has not held office for 1.5 years. But that is not the essence. The essence is that there is a total failure in the fields of education and science. Yes, there are some changes, but they are, to put it mildly, insufficient. The salaries of teachers, lecturers, and scientists are disgracefully low. In these fields, there are only a few dedicated individuals and those who cannot find work elsewhere. Very few educated and literate people want to become teachers. Before the revolution, this was an expression of the government's anti-state desire, and now it reflects the incompetence of Arayik Harutyunyan. P.S. And don’t say ‘there’s no money’ because there is. Arsen Torosyan achieved a significant increase in funding in his sector because he is a professional (unlike Arayik Harutyunyan)," he wrote.
It is noteworthy that today, during a press conference, Minister of Education Arayik Harutyunyan commented on the demands for his resignation, stating, "If there are grounds, I won’t stay in this position for a single minute longer and I will submit my resignation myself. I ask my colleagues not to threaten me with resignations. I am not afraid of that. I have been and am one of the leaders of the revolutionary team.”
