Photos: Cause of Explosion in Central Tbilisi Revealed
The cause of the explosion that occurred at the Dejavu nightclub in the center of Tbilisi, Georgia, has been identified as an explosion of an oxygen cylinder during renovation work, according to a representative from Georgia's Emergency Management Service, as reported by eadaily.com.
"Preliminary information indicates that renovation work was being carried out in the building. It is suspected that the oxygen cylinder exploded, resulting in injuries to two workers, who were transported to the hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, one person has died. There was no fire caused by the explosion," the service representative clarified.
As previously reported, the explosion at the Dejavu nightclub in central Tbilisi resulted in one death and three injuries.
The explosion occurred near the Tbilisi Philharmonic building on Merab Kostava Street. The shockwave shattered the windows of nearby buildings. Currently, Merab Kostava Street is closed. Firefighters and rescue workers continue to operate at the scene.
