Hagia Sophia, Now a Mosque, Prohibits Entry Without Headscarves or Shorts
Following the transformation of the centuries-old Christian cathedral and center of Orthodox Christianity, Hagia Sophia, from a museum to a mosque, conservative Muslims have begun to scrutinize those entering the site dressed inappropriately for Islam. This was reported by Ermenihaber.
After the first prayer, discussions emerged about the requirement to enter the 'mosque' in clothing aligned with Islamic traditions. According to the newly adopted regulations, visitors to Hagia Sophia, now under the jurisdiction of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, will not be allowed to enter without a headscarf, shorts, or low-cut attire. Special security personnel will close the doors to individuals attempting to enter in such clothing.
Meanwhile, interest in Hagia Sophia within Turkey has surged, with a significant number of people visiting the site since it has gained mosque status.
