August 2026 Could Go Down in History as the Hottest Month: We Are on the Verge of a New Record
August 2026 is poised to set a new record for global temperatures. According to Levon Azizyan, director of the Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center, August 2026 could become the hottest August in the history of meteorological observations.
Data from the Japanese JRA-3Q reanalysis indicates that during the first 11 days of the month, the Earth's average global air temperature reached +17.03 °C. This is the highest recorded level for this time period and surpasses the corresponding level of August 2024, which is considered the hottest August on record.
