Lithuania Bans Entry of Alexander Lukashenko

Lithuania has included Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on a list of individuals prohibited from entering the country. According to РИА Новости, the announcement was made by the country's Foreign Minister, Linas Linkevičius.

The minister noted that the list includes a total of 32 people. Commenting on this news, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, emphasized that the entry ban for Lukashenko constitutes interference in Belarus's internal affairs.

“Bravo. Minsk is receiving a strong argument that confirms the West's interference in Belarus's internal affairs,” the diplomat wrote on social media.

Earlier, the presidents of the Baltic States and Poland had suggested acting as intermediaries to resolve the prevailing situation in the country.

It is worth recalling that protests have not ceased in Belarus since the presidential elections held on August 9. Supporters of the opposition continue to express their dissatisfaction with the election results, according to which incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko was declared the winner with 80 percent of the votes, while Tikhanovskaya received only 10 percent. In the first days of the protests, more than 6,700 people were arrested, hundreds were injured, and three protesters lost their lives.
