Two Deputy Chiefs of Police in Armenia Submit Resignation Requests

168.am reports that a new phase of challenges is beginning for Vahé Ghazaryan, the relatively newly appointed head of the Armenian Police and a classmate of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. On one hand, issues related to Amulsar and the Mashtots Park, as well as the rising waves of social protests based on underlying grievances, pose significant concerns. On the other hand, staffing issues are becoming serious problems for the organization.

As such, requests for resignation have been submitted by two Deputy Chiefs of Police, Hayk Mhryan and Tigran Yesayan. There are notably positive assessments of Yesayan within the system, particularly regarding his professionalism as a competent official. According to the website's sources, they are currently packing up their items from their offices.

It is worth recalling that Hayk Mhryan served as the head of the Nor Norq administrative district following the change of power, and then briefly as the Deputy Head of the 'Armavir' penitentiary institution, before being appointed as Deputy Chief of Police. He was responsible for coordinating the enforcement of measures during the state of emergency.

Tigran Yesayan was the First Deputy Head of the Police Educational Complex from 2012 to 2019.
