Vahagn Varagyan and Rafael Hovhannisyan Released: Ruben Meliqyan

The environmental activists Vahagn Varagyan and Rafael Hovhannisyan, part of the "Green Future" environmental movement, were administratively detained under Article 182 of the RA Code of Administrative Offenses. This information was shared by Ruben Meliqyan, president of the legal NGO "Legal Path" and a human rights defender.

"They have just been released," he wrote.

Earlier, Ruben Meliqyan had informed through a live broadcast on his Facebook page that he was heading to Vayk city to provide legal aid to environmentalist Vahagn Varagyan, who was detained during a protest against the exploitation of the Amulsar mine. "During the protest in Amulsar, environmentalist Vahagn Varagyan was detained, and he called the police department asking me to provide legal assistance as his lawyer. I am currently on my way to Vayk city," he had stated.
