Turkish-Azerbaijani Joint Exercises Are Delayed, Says Turkologist
Turkologist and Kurdish studies expert Karen Hovhannisyan stated on his Facebook page: "Turkish-Azerbaijani joint military exercises are delayed exercises, as these usually take place in May or, in extreme cases, in June. I do not want to go too far back; I would like to present footage from all the annual exercises that started from 2015. I must note that exercises did not take place only in 2016, and the reasons for that are another topic."
"Thus, in May 2015, large-scale exercises were conducted, involving air forces, missile and artillery troops, air defense, and other units (see pictures 1 and 2). In June 2017, the new aspect of these exercises was the use of strike and reconnaissance UAVs (see pictures 3 and 4). In May 2018, exercises were held with the same composition and format as before. In 2018, Turkey did not return some of the military equipment (see picture 5). In May 2019, again, exercises were conducted in the same format, but special forces units also participated from the Turkish side (see pictures 6 and 7). In July 2020, perhaps the only innovation was that ground forces were also deployed by military aircraft, and the geography of the exercises was expanded to include Yevlakh."
"For now, that is all. My study of Azerbaijan's military exercises is quite extensive, and it is impossible to present one post to cover it all, but I assure you that the hasty organization of these exercises simply leaves an impression of a reality check on the belligerent behavior during the TAVUSH clashes."
