Madam, We Are Not Asking for Peace, We Are Imposing It on You: Arpine Hovhannisyan to Mehriban Aliyeva
Former Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Arpine Hovhannisyan wrote on her Facebook page:
“I am writing because I am confident the addressee will read this. Mehriban Aliyeva must understand that as she herself says, the struggle for the homeland is truly sacred. However, there is one issue: Madam, you have invented a homeland for yourself that has never belonged to you; you want to appropriate someone else's homeland, and that is impossible.
Madam, this is not a military-patriotic pathos; this is a reality that you and your ‘husband’ must reckon with. You will never hear mugham in Artsakh, whether invited or uninvited. And now, a guidance from the Armenian public in case you have misinterpreted the ‘peaceful’ calls coming from here: Madam, we are not asking for peace; we are imposing it on you… ALWAYS.
Our mothers and sisters desire and strive for peace, but they have not forged ornaments out of weapons. We are capable of preserving our land with a real sacred struggle. Just yesterday, Grigori Khachaturov and our soldiers demonstrated that to you.
Don’t be deceived, and don’t take camouflage, flowers, and pathos seriously; we are vigilant. We are strong, and we speak of peace from the position of strength. No one is afraid of your hysterical shouting. We have never feared it, on any platform; ask Ganirayan and Sevini and they will tell you. You are deceiving the Azerbaijani people, but that is your problem. You cannot deceive the Armenian people.
Peace is our tomorrow, which we must be ready to achieve through war today. We are ready. Our soldiers are ready. They say there is no good war or bad peace. I would say there is a victorious war and honorable peace. This is our people's choice.”
