Unique Phenomenon: Planetary Parade Begins in Space Today

Today, on July 4th, a unique planetary parade has begun. All planets of the Solar System—Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, along with the dwarf planet Pluto—have lined up on one side of the Sun and are in a straight line.

From today until mid-August, nearly perfect alignment can be observed, with very small angles of deviation between the planets. Astronomers reassure concerned individuals that there is no reason to fear ominous predictions.

On July 4th, Earth will be at its farthest distance from the Sun, and on July 5th, the year’s third lunar eclipse will occur. Moreover, on July 28th, a meteor shower will take place on Earth, with the peak impact of the Southern Delta Aquariid meteor stream happening tonight.

Additionally, throughout July, the giant planets Jupiter and Saturn will be in opposition, clearly visible in the night sky.

Regarding this so-called planetary parade, as noted on the Moscow planetarium's website, when viewed from above the Solar System, the six planets appear to line up behind one another, resembling a queue.

The last occurrence of such a planetary parade happened in 1982, with the next ones expected in 2161 and 2492.
