Charges Filed Against MP Hovik Aghazaryan's Son; Case Sent to Court
The case against Ivan Aghazaryan, son of MP Hovik Aghazaryan from the 'My Step' faction, has been sent to court. This information has been confirmed by the Judicial Information System website.
Ivan Aghazaryan faces charges for an incident that occurred on November 5, 2019, between 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM. He allegedly operated his Opel vehicle in reverse at a speed of 15-20 km/h on the Arches Street in Yerevan, violating the requirements of Road Safety Rule 48. Specifically, he failed to ensure the safety of the maneuver, particularly by not confirming the absence of obstacles or sources of danger behind the vehicle, and did not seek assistance from others.
While reversing, he struck pedestrian A.K., causing medium severity bodily harm due to negligence. He has been charged under the first part of Article 242, which stipulates penalties including a fine of up to 200 times the minimum wage, imprisonment for a term of up to two years, or detention for a term of one to three months.
A preventive measure of a non-leaving signature has been imposed on Ivan Aghazaryan. The case has been assigned to Judge Vahagn Melikyan of the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court.
