82-Year-Old Patient Dies at Gyumri Medical Center, Test Result Negative but Exhibited COVID-19 Symptoms
On July 3, an 82-year-old patient died at the Gyumri Medical Center, despite their test result being negative. Armen Nikoghosyan, the director of the medical center, informed NEWS.am that it's possible the deceased was infected with the coronavirus.
“Yesterday we had an extremely severe case. The patient had been sampled at the polyclinic, came to us, and died; then the result came back negative. However, all of their symptoms were similar to those of coronavirus, and it is very likely that the negative result occurred because they stayed at home for too long and sought medical assistance late. They were brought in with advanced, complicated symptoms, and they died,” he stated, mentioning that the deceased had exhibited pneumonia characteristic of the coronavirus.
Armen Nikoghosyan noted that this case will not be counted as a death due to coronavirus in statistics, and the burial will not be organized according to epidemiological regulations.
