Purveyors of Careless Misinformation Circulate a Photo: Hakob Karapetyan
Purveyors of careless misinformation are circulating a photo online, allegedly claiming that the city authorities are raising the public transport fare to 150 drams starting July 20. This was reported by Hakob Karapetyan, the spokesperson for the Yerevan Mayor, on his Facebook page.
In contrast to the well-known saying, this case was uncovered not in 40 minutes, but rather in just 40 seconds. We 'asked' Google Images for the origin of the photo, and here it is: the image appeared online back in July 2013. At that time, if you recall, it was decided to set the fare at 150 drams.
Interestingly, a keen observer will also notice the Orange advertisement in the photo, which cannot be seen in the city these days, as that brand has long ceased to operate in Armenia.
