Davith Movsisyan, Son of Arakel Movsisyan (Shmayis), Denied Phone Calls and Visits for 4 Months

Davith Movsisyan, the son of former MP Arakel Movsisyan (Shmayis) and a defendant in the case of the murder of conscript Vahram Avagyan, has been denied the opportunity to speak on the phone or visit with relatives for nearly four months. This was reported to NEWS.am by Movsisyan's lawyer, Gor Gevorgyan, who noted that a hearing to appeal this restriction will be held next week in the first instance court.

“We have also appealed the decision to extend the detention in the Court of Appeals, but the date for the hearing is still unknown,” he said.

As previously reported, on January 30, 2020, around 13:15, in the Army Training Center of the Artsakh Defense Army, conscript Vahram Mkrtich Avagyan fired shots at himself with an AKM-type rifle in the chest area and was hospitalized with gunshot wounds, where his biological death was recorded at 14:00. Following the incident, a criminal case was opened under Part 1 of Article 110 of the RA Criminal Code at the military investigative department of the military base, and an investigation is ongoing.

In connection with the criminal case regarding the soldier's death, Davith Arakel Movsisyan, Khachik Armen Gasparyan, and Spartak Arthur Avetisyan, who were fellow servicemen, were also arrested.
