Ararat Mirzoyan Responds to ‘BHK’ and ‘LHK’

The President of the National Assembly, Ararat Mirzoyan, has responded to the request of the MPs from the ‘Enlightened Armenia’ and ‘Prosperous Armenia’ factions to establish an investigative committee.

According to Article 20, Part 1 of the constitutional law ‘Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly’, an investigative committee has been established by law to assess the effectiveness of measures taken by the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Commandant's Office to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), combat this virus, alleviate or eliminate the consequences of the pandemic, as well as to examine the effectiveness and legality of the restrictions on human rights and fundamental freedoms during the state of emergency, based on the demand of at least one-quarter of all MPs.

The draft decision determining the number of members of the investigative committee will be discussed at the first regular session of the National Assembly in September 2020, in accordance with Article 20, Part 6 of the constitutional law ‘Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly’,” stated the announcement by the NA President, Ararat Mirzoyan.
