Historian Hamlet Gevorgyan, an Active Participant in the Karabakh Movement, Dies of Coronavirus

Hamlet Gevorgyan, one of the most active participants in the popular movement of 1988-90, has passed away due to the coronavirus. The news was reported by public figure and human rights defender Vardan Harutyunyan on Facebook.

“Hamlet was a Doctor of Historical Sciences, a professor. He authored monographs including “Nikola Duman” (Yerevan, 2002, 2003), “Dro” (Yerevan, 1999, 2000, 2007), “Sebastatzi Murad” (Yerevan, 2003), “Sedrak Jalalyan” (Yerevan, 2009), “From the Heroic Narrative of the Liberation Struggle” (Yerevan, 2006), “Pages of the Armenian Liberation Struggle” (Yerevan, 2005, 2010), “Beton” (Yerevan, 1994), and “Yapon (Hovhannes Paronyan): Work and Memories” (Yerevan, 2011), along with numerous articles. His main area of interest revolved around the Armenian liberation movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

He was an interesting person and, most importantly, unique,” he wrote.
