Attempt to Smuggle Prohibited Items into Artik Penitentiary

On May 9, 2020, around 22:40, a staff member of the Armenian Ministry of Justice's Artik Penitentiary noticed an object being thrown from the observation tower into the premises of one of the facility's sections.

The Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Justice's Penitentiary Service reported that due to the rapid response of the staff and immediate measures taken by facility personnel, polyethylene containers were discovered both inside and outside the aforementioned section.

Upon inspection, the containers were found to conceal six mobile phones, a headset, subscriber cards, USB drives, and charging cables. Materials are being prepared regarding the incident.
