Why is Arghishti Kyaramyan Assigned to the NSS?

«Ժողովուրդ» newspaper reports: The appointment of Arghishti Kyaramyan as the first deputy director of the National Security Service (NSS) has caused a significant uproar. The question of why Kyaramyan was appointed to two positions in one day while being confirmed in the NSS continues to be discussed.

Sources from the newspaper indicate that this appointment is directly related to information leaks from the state intelligence agency. Prime Minister has been informed several times of leaks from the NSS, and there are suspicions that former NSS director Arthur Vanetsyan possesses certain pieces of information. For this reason, Kyaramyan has been appointed as the first deputy director of the NSS, serving as a loyal and vigilant official to the Prime Minister. His task is to address potential leaks.

According to the sources of the newspaper, Kyaramyan will officially coordinate the work of the investigative bodies within the NSS. It is noteworthy that to appoint Kyaramyan to this position, he was first assigned as the deputy head of the Investigative Committee for half a day and also granted the rank of colonel to meet the necessary criteria for the first deputy director of the NSS. This situation arises because he could not be directly appointed as the deputy director of the NSS from the position of acting head of the supervisory department, as there are strict criteria for joining the NSS and only those holding a rank of colonel or higher can be appointed to that position.
