VIDEO: Citizen Extorted 240,000 Drams from Couple Not to Publish Information to Media

On April 28, a report was filed with the Erebuni police regarding extortion. A day prior, a young man had published photos of the complainant and his wife on a social media platform, claiming that they were engaged in fraud. Subsequently, the individual who made the post demanded 240,000 drams from them in exchange for removing the publication from the internet and not providing it to the media.

Erebuni police, in collaboration with the officers from the main department for combating corruption and economic crimes of the Criminal Police, undertook operational and investigative measures. As a result, the young man was arrested while trying to collect the demanded amount.

During a personal search, bills marked with “extortion” were found on him. Expert examinations have been appointed. The circumstances of the case are under investigation.
