Vardenyats Pass Closed for Cargo Trucks, Difficult for Passenger Vehicles
The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of April 26 at 09:00, roads in the Republic of Armenia are mostly passable. However, the roads leading to Amberd Fortress and Kari Lake in Aragatsotn Province remain closed for an indefinite period.
Additionally, the Vardenyats Pass is closed for cargo trucks and is difficult to navigate for passenger vehicles.
According to information received from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia and the Crisis Management Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia’s North Ossetia, the Stepantsminda-Larsi road has been opened only for cargo transport after extensive snow removal work.
It is also reported that the ban on foreigners entering Georgia remains in effect, although it does not apply to freight transport. Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.
