Control of Citizens' Movement in Moscow to be Strengthened Until May 1

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the temporary restrictions imposed in Moscow will be extended until May 1, as reported by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, according to ria.ru.

According to the mayor, the restrictions in Moscow related to the coronavirus have prevented "an explosive rise in morbidity at this stage." He stated, "This is the first, modest, but very important victory, but the fight is not over; the pandemic has not retreated."

The capital's authorities will strengthen the control over citizens' movement, which is currently managed manually; however, as the mayor pointed out, from now on it will be carried out as automated as possible. "To monitor compliance with the pass regime during car trips, cameras designed for recording traffic violations and the state auto inspection road patrol service will be launched," Sobyanin added.

In addition, the program for providing free medications in Moscow will be expanded. "Doctors believe that under current conditions, the likelihood that a regular acute respiratory infection is hiding the coronavirus is very high. Therefore, adequate treatment should start immediately," Sobyanin concluded.
