Workers of Vanadzor's 'Gloria' Garment Factory Appeal to Prime Minister via Facebook
Workers of Vanadzor's 'Gloria' garment factory have appealed to the Prime Minister through a Facebook post. Specifically, Facebook user Elmyra Hovsepyan, who is an employee of the Vanadzor factory, wrote on her page: 'Mr. Nikol Pashinyan, I hope you are aware of the current situation. It has been 20 days since the factory ceased operations and nearly 2,500 employees (families) are facing the challenge of earning a daily bread, having worked for this employer for many years and paying millions in taxes monthly. Let us not forget that during the revolution, we all stood together as one beside you and your government, and we continue to support you today. However, we and our employer are facing this serious problem. I take the liberty to speak on behalf of the employees and appeal to you. We kindly ask you to urgently resolve this issue and allocate funds from the budget for any point of the program aimed at neutralizing the economic consequences of the coronavirus.'
It is worth noting that earlier, in an interview with Radio Liberty, Bagrat Darbinyan, the owner of the 'Gloria' garment factory, stated that he intends to keep the business closed for another month, even if the government allows clothing production to resume after April 20. Due to the spread of coronavirus, the owner had sent 2,600 employees on mandatory leave for almost a month and remarked that, under conditions of numerous restrictions, it would still be impossible for the factory to operate.
