The Number of Coronavirus Cases in Azerbaijan Reaches 1340

The total number of coronavirus cases in Azerbaijan has reached 1340, with 57 new infections reported in one day, the operational headquarters affiliated with the government announced on Friday, according to ria.ru.

On Thursday, the Azerbaijani authorities reported 1283 cases of coronavirus infection in the country, with the death toll rising to 15.

"57 new cases of coronavirus have been identified in Azerbaijan, and 68 people have recovered," the statement noted.

According to the operational headquarters' message, a total of 1340 individuals in Azerbaijan have contracted the virus, of which 528 have recovered, and 15 have died. A total of 797 people are continuing treatment in specialized hospitals, including 26 in serious condition and 35 in moderate condition.

Globally, the number of coronavirus infections has reached 2,214,431, resulting in 148,979 deaths. The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus pandemic on March 11. The virus has spread to 210 countries. Chinese authorities reported the outbreak of the pandemic to the WHO on December 31.
