650 Hectares of Forest Restoration: Activities of Hayantar Continue
Within the framework of the program "Implementation of Sustainable Land and Forest Management in the Mountain Landscapes of Northeastern Armenia," a contract was signed between the Hayantar State Non-Commercial Organization and the UNDP on November 19, 2019. As a result, during February and March 2020, forest restoration works were carried out in 650 hectares of the forest economies of Ijevan, Noyemberyan, Artsvaberd, Vanadzor, and Jiliza, with 500 hectares involving assistance for natural regeneration through mining support (preparation of platforms and sowing on the platforms) and 150 hectares through coppicing regeneration assistance.
Currently, works on 150 hectares of land mining and 100 hectares of coppicing regeneration assistance are ongoing and are expected to be completed by April 20 of this year. A total of 282 workers were involved in the works carried out within this program during 2020.
