The Peaceful Resolution of the Artsakh Conflict is Not Dependent on Elections
The process of peacefully resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is not dependent on the elections held there on March 31. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during a press briefing with reporters.
Regarding the elections in Nagorno-Karabakh held on March 31, Zakharova mentioned that there is a statement from the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, which can be found on the official OSCE website.
According to Zakharova, the starting point for Russia is that elections are necessary to ensure the normal functioning of the population. At the same time, she emphasized that Russia does not recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent state.
“The status of Artsakh should be determined through political negotiations, which is what the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group are currently engaged in,” stated Zakharova.
