Trump Announces New Measures to Combat COVID-19 Pandemic
US President Donald Trump has announced new measures to protect the population from the COVID-19 pandemic. The state leader spoke about this on Friday, March 20, during a press briefing at the White House with the new coronavirus task force.
During the meeting, it was announced that the US Department of the Treasury is required to delay the deadline for Americans to submit tax documents from April 15 to July 15, which will greatly assist families and entrepreneurs. At the same time, the Treasury Department has promised not to impose penalties or additional interest for the delay in tax filings.
It is also noted that American citizens will not have to pay interest on student loans for up to 60 days, a measure initiated by Education Secretary Betsy DeVos.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced that due to the trend of decreasing coronavirus infections, the US and Mexico have agreed to limit certain travel across their border. A similar agreement had previously been reached with Canada. The parties believe that this measure will not harm trade relations between the countries.
