President Conducts Online Lectures for Students
The press service of the Republic of Armenia's president informs that Armen Sarkissian has initiated a series of online lectures aimed at ensuring the continuity of education for students through remote learning methods during the current situation.
Within this framework, the President delivered online lectures today to a group of students from the Mathematics and Mechanics, Physics, Informatics and Applied Mathematics, as well as Oriental Studies faculties of Yerevan State University.
During the 45-minute sessions, the President addressed sector-specific themes, including the global spread of the new coronavirus. To make the lectures more engaging and to stimulate the educational and research skills and interests of students, Armen Sarkissian assigned homework in the form of a competition, setting the deadline for submission after the state of emergency ends.
Specifically, addressing young students in the humanities, the President suggested they write about the changes in the contemporary Middle East. The submissions can pertain to either Armenia's relations with the Middle East or the region's role concerning Russia, Europe, or the USA.
Future physicists and mathematicians were invited to present works on topics such as mathematical modeling of the spread and prevention of global risks - global pandemics (e.g., coronavirus) and strategies to overcome global risks (technological, scientific, healthcare, etc.).
The aim of the student competition is to promote remote education and the development of digital learning. Students from universities in Armenia and Artsakh, as well as Armenian students residing abroad, are eligible to participate.
Essays should not exceed 20 pages. Works (in Word format) for humanities students should be submitted to [email protected], while physicists and mathematicians should send theirs to [email protected], specifying their name, surname, place of study (university, faculty, year), and contact details (phone, email).
The authors of the three best works will receive a presidential award.
