No Cases of Coronavirus in Artsakh So Far
The State Minister of the Republic of Artsakh, Grigori Martirosyan, along with the Minister of Health, Arayik Baghramyan, discussed the measures taken to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus on March 12. This information was provided by the Artsakh government.
The State Minister inquired about the progress of measures to prevent the infection and the degree of material and technical support provided. According to the operational data presented by Arayik Baghramyan, no cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the Republic so far.
“To date, around 40 samples have been sent to Armenia for testing, all of which have returned negative results. I would also like to inform you that discussions are organized as part of measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, with constant communication with our partners in Armenia. Within the framework of the implemented comprehensive measures, all medical institutions have been supplied with both disposable materials and disinfectants, as well as laser thermometers. Two checkpoints in Artsakh have also been equipped with laser thermometers,” noted the Minister of Health.
The State Minister emphasized that the government had previously reached an agreement with two local companies to produce protective masks if necessary, which, according to the Minister of Health's assessment, comply with established medical standards and are provided for additional use according to distribution lists.
Speaking about acute respiratory infections in the Republic, Baghramyan confirmed that the number of patients seeking treatment for the aforementioned illnesses in all medical institutions has decreased, which is also evident from ongoing monitoring conducted in preschool and general education institutions.
At the end of the meeting, Grigori Martirosyan issued a statement urging Artsakh citizens to avoid foreign trips and business trips, except in cases of urgent necessity.
