If It Were Not for the Revolution, the Amulsar Mine Would Have Been Exploited Long Ago: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during his speech today in Jermuk, addressed the issue of the exploitation of the Amulsar mine, stating that the deep-seated reason for this issue is the lack of reliable institutions. According to him, if we had reliable institutions and were convinced that all arguments, risks, and possibilities had been accounted for, we would have a clear answer on this issue today.

“I want to emphasize for my compatriots who think that the government is not taking sufficient measures to resolve the Amulsar issue once and for all after the revolution. I want to draw your attention to the fact that if it were not for the revolution, the Amulsar mine would have been exploited long ago. I urge you not to lose respect for the revolution and the government. Let them remember the situation before the revolution and the situation after it,” said the Prime Minister.

Pashinyan noted that he disagrees with some compatriots who argue that the mine's operation should be shut down while others insist on the contrary. His position is that the path to revealing the truth should be pursued. “I say let us go to the end and pursue the truth without fear; it is not an easy path. I can confidently say that in the matter of Amulsar, I am among the few who have no vested interest other than that of the citizen of the Republic of Armenia. And that will remain the case until the end,” Pashinyan stated.
