We Will Not Form a Puppet Constitutional Court: Pashinyan
We will not form a puppet court: This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his speech at a campaign event in Goris on March 11.
“Now, after the adoption of the judicial code, it is important to note that candidates for the CC judges will undergo a vetting process for integrity with the Anti-Corruption Committee. We will see if there is anything in their lives that may hinder them from being objective. Moreover, the integrity rules will not pass for those candidates who turn out to be compromised, even with connections to the current authorities,” said Pashinyan.
Pashinyan noted that since two judges of the Constitutional Court have been presented by the President of Armenia and the General Assembly of Judges after April 2018, they will remain judges of the CC, while the powers of the remaining seven will be suspended. For these seven vacant positions, the government will present three candidates, while the President of Armenia and the General Assembly of Judges will present two candidates each, as one candidate has already been submitted, who has become a judge of the CC.
