Arsen Torosyan on the Spread of Coronavirus

Arsen Torosyan, the Minister of Health of Armenia, made a post on his social media page, where he stated:

“Dear compatriots, with the geographical spread of new coronavirus outbreaks, the inter-agency commission fighting the epidemic is making decisions in accordance with the situation, resulting from ongoing discussions. In the decision-making process, numerous professional factors are taken into account, without which the decisions would be wrong and would cause more harm than benefit to all of us.

The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are in constant contact with their partners to synchronize international actions against outbreaks, as isolated actions cannot be effective. Modern global mechanisms for fighting infectious diseases imply such synchronized actions.

Meanwhile, I want to draw your attention to the unnecessary and artificial escalation of the situation and the attempts to reap different dividends from it, which I consider unacceptable. The National Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), under our Ministry, has sufficient professional and technical capacity to respond adequately to infectious diseases. I ask you to follow the official news and not to fall for provocations.”
