David Khajakyan Alerts
I am informing that during these days I have received numerous phone calls regarding individuals holding credentials as members of precinct electoral commissions (especially civil servants), expressing their concern about being involved in the precincts due to fear that they might face issues related to their employment if represented by the 'NO' side. This was stated by David Khajakyan, the leader of the 'Luys' faction in the Yerevan City Council, on his Facebook page.
He also mentioned: 'The targeting of the 'NO' side by those in power and linking it to the “former corrupt system” has exacerbated the situation to the extent that people are expressing fears even about performing such apolitical, non-propagandistic functions. Therefore, I would like to inform that if individuals holding credentials as members of precinct electoral commissions licensed by the LK (the party) receive invitations to participate in the electoral commissions, the party will not obstruct their participation. The alternative would have been to keep our licensed individuals from participating, which could have been seen as an action aimed at sabotaging the organizational process of the referendum, as the representation of the ‘NO’ side in the polling station is defined by law.
This referendum's appointment was illegal, yet professional and impartial commission members must have the opportunity to properly organize the voting process at the polling stations while adhering to the requirements of the electoral code.'
