Top 10 Athletes to Receive 5 Million Drams Each
The government approved a decision during today’s session to allocate 50 million drams for awarding the top 10 athletes of the year. Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports Arayik Harutyunyan stated that the list of the best athletes was compiled in December, and each athlete will receive 5 million drams.
Harutyunyan also noted that the budget for the upcoming year will specifically allocate this 50 million drams, ensuring it is granted each year.
The minister provided additional explanations regarding the incentives for champions. He mentioned that Olympic champions will receive 20 million drams, silver medalists will get 15 million drams, and athletes finishing in third place will be awarded 10 million drams.
According to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, starting this year there will also be an increase in the monthly stipends and pension amounts for these athletes. For world champions, the stipend will rise from the current 55 thousand to 100 thousand drams, while Olympic champions will receive 200 thousand drams.
