«Jradar» Reports: Patient Suffering from Heart Failure Denied Care

«Jradar» newspaper reports that the Audit Chamber of the Republic of Armenia conducted inspections at the 'Emergency Medicine' LLC from September 24 to December 20 of last year. The newspaper learned that the Audit Chamber specifically examined the features of emergency medical services provided in Yerevan and assessed issues related to expenditure and the efficiency of targeted actions.

As a result, problems were identified related to the optimal distribution and workload of medical groups. For instance, «Jradar» learned that several medical centers listed in the hospitalization shift schedule for non-admitted patients have refused to accept patients citing a lack of available beds. More importantly, in some cases, patients diagnosed with acute respiratory or heart failure were not hospitalized in time, even after receiving rejections from more than three medical centers.

Moreover, «Jradar» newspaper reported that calls made to the 1-03 service from rural mobile networks are redirected to Yerevan, and then from Yerevan to the emergency medical units serving the regions. Regarding the Audit Chamber's findings, «Jradar» spoke with the director of 'Emergency Medicine' LLC, Taguhi Stepanyan. She stated, “This problem exists, and we are working towards its resolution. Now there is a new order that allows patients to receive assistance in the emergency departments of hospitals without being hospitalized.”
