“With German's departure, our society lost a unique color” - Anna Hakobyan
The wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Anna Hakobyan, has expressed her condolences to the family and loved ones of photographer German Avagyan, as well as to the thousands of people who appreciated his art.
“With deep sorrow, I learned about the untimely death of our dear friend, the renowned photographer and documentarian German Avagyan. With German's departure, our society lost a unique color, a compassionate citizen, and a photographer with a distinctive style,” wrote Anna Hakobyan.
She also noted that Avagyan was a chronicler of our history, whose photographs will inform future generations about independent Armenia. “May light shine upon your grave, dear German,” the Prime Minister's wife added.
The news of photographer, documentarian, and journalist German Avagyan’s passing spread yesterday evening. He passed away suddenly from a heart attack. The news of his death was shared on social media by his close friend, sculptor Sahak Poghosyan.
