Recent Incidents Indicate That We Are Not Doing Something Right, Says Artsakh Defense Army Commander

On February 15, a service meeting was held at the Defense Army headquarters with participation from members of the military council and heads of law enforcement agencies, presided over by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Artsakh, Defense Army Commander, Lieutenant General Karen Abrahamyan. During the meeting, issues related to recent fatal incidents within the Armed Forces of Artsakh were discussed.

Addressing the current situation, the army commander analyzed each incident individually and spoke about potential causes and future actions. This is reported by the official website of the Ministry of Defense of Artsakh.

“The death of each soldier is a heavy loss for us, and each of us carries the blame for that loss. Despite our daily rigorous work, recent incidents show that we are not doing something right somewhere,” said Karen Abrahamyan.

During the meeting, the army commander’s deputies and representatives of law enforcement agencies also presented their observations. They elaborated on the steps being taken to improve interpersonal relationships within the army, including the activities conducted by officers in the relevant divisions of the headquarters and services at the permanent deployment and military duty locations, where special attention has been given to maintaining safety regulations and fostering healthy relationships among soldiers.

The army commander emphasized the importance of the ongoing work and noted that despite continuous efforts to improve the morale and psychological support for service members, there are still evident shortcomings. In this regard, he issued specific instructions to responsible officials, while urging representatives of law enforcement agencies to be more vigilant and principled in identifying any violations and uncovering the underlying causes and circumstances of incidents.
