Criminal Case Initiated Over Death of 23-Year-Old Soldier on Grounds of Incitement to Suicide

On February 14, at approximately 7:30 PM, a soldier involved in combat duty, Lieutenant Hayk Nerses Asryan, was found with a fatal gunshot wound in a combat position at the N military unit’s security post.

The Investigative Committee reports that a criminal case has been initiated at the first garrison investigative division under Part 1 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (on the grounds of incitement to suicide) and an investigation is underway.

Necessary investigative and other procedural actions are being undertaken to ensure a thorough, complete, and objective investigation of the incident.

It is reminded that on February 14, around 7:00 PM, in the security area of one of the military units deployed in the eastern direction of the Defense Army, contractual serviceman Hayk Nerses Asryan, born in 1997, sustained a fatal gunshot wound under still unclear circumstances.
