Rescue Teams Free Nearly 1000 Passengers from Blockage on Sotk-Karvachar Road
On February 12, at 09:17, the National Crisis Management Center received information that vehicles were blocked on the Sotk-Karvachar road due to a snowdrift.
A rescue operational group from the regional rescue department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations was dispatched from the Sotk-Karvachar checkpoint to the scene.
At 10:40, it was reported that the Sotk-Karvachar road was closed in both directions because of the snowdrift. Operational teams from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and two firefighting units from the special rescue operations center were also sent to the site.
By 20:20, rescuers had freed around 250 vehicles carrying 1000 passengers from the blockage, and approximately 200 citizens were transported to the checkpoint.
Two units of equipment from the Sotk gold mine were involved in the road clearing operations.
